Only Kane, winner of a Meritorious Presidential Rank award, says now financial officers are getting into the act using increased transparency to eliminate redundancy across agency lines. Kane says while this save money it also means putting a greater burden on financial officers to adopt business manager-type skills to ensure there are no hiccups along the way, something which could have far-ranging implications for the way we look at careers in government.
